Apologies for the broken links all over the place. My hosting provider moved to a new platform and deleted all the old content! Luckily I had a backup of the posts, which I set up here, but haven't had a chance to complete the move. The download links here are fixed now and I'll be fixing the rest of the transitional errors in the next few days.

Unfortunately my website provider moved to a new platform and deleted all my content, so I am trying to patch it together from a few backups, which is why the download links don't work. You can set the MTU from the Ethernet tab of the Advanced settings of the Ethernet adaptor in Tiger and Leopard, and you can do the same for Airport, although that's Leopard only.

No - it uses command line apps to change the settings, pmset for the power settings (eg sleep and so on) and defaults to control the timeout for the screen saver ...

Cool! I always wanted to try making something like this but your code seems too complex for me :\
Are you using Finder Commands in the AppleScript to control the deactivation of screensavers, sleep, etc?

I can recreate that - but only if I manually delete the preference! It could be that you've never changed your settings from the default so the preference doesn't exist. I've modified the script to allow for this, I'll upload it soon.
